I made these brooches for a Mother's Day event at mom's church. I can't remember exactly from where I got the pattern, but it's probably from a NeedleCraft Journal early 1900's. I have been using this pattern for years and know it by heart. It's pretty easy and you can easily change it to your taste.
Here is the ds counting I use. Shuttle only. Leave a tail of 3 or 4 inches at the beginning.
First Row:
R: 5-5-5-5.
R: 5+ (to previous ring) 5-5-5.
Continue in this fashion until you have five or six petals. Tie. DON'T CUT.
Second Row:
Make a lock join to the center of the ring of first row.
R: 8-8-8-8.
Make a lock join to the center of next ring.
R: 8+ (join to previous ring) 8-8-8.
Repeat in the same fashion until you got joined to every ring on the first row. Tie ends again and cut.
I hope you enjoy the pattern!
